This particular facility chose an energy efficient Single Ply TPO Roof System. TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) is a very popular roofing membrane these days. It is durable, like EPDM rubber, and weather resistant because of the hot-air welded seams.

Even though we often work on rooftops, in with extreme heat conditions, our knowledge can be of use to you in your everyday outdoor activities in extremely hot weather.

1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Drink lot’s of water. Don’t wait until you’re really thirsty, your body needs water before you get to this warning sign.

2. Cool water is best
You don’t need frigid ice water. The closer to body temperature the better.

3. Get your outside work done early.
Start early in the morning when it’s cooler. Wrap up before the hottest times of day – 2pm to 5pm.

4. Dress for heat.
Our crews have uniforms, but you don’t. Dress for the heat. Most importantly – wear light colors to reflect the sun. Dark colors absorb much more heat than light colors. Even your shoes.

5. Sweat is good!
We sweat for a reason – the evaporation of sweat cools the body. If someone is NOT sweating in high heat, it may be a sign of potential heat stroke. Hose yourself off if necessary!
